Hatch is seeking an Advisory Analyst for an internship starting Fall 2024. Reporting to Advisory you will support offices globally working from our Mississauga office location.

 

The Advisory business practice is Hatch's management consulting arm that helps clients in the mining, energy, and infrastructure solve their toughest business problems. Hatch is currently looking for a candidate to join the Advisory business practice for a 4/8/12 month co-op term. The successful candidate will assist in management consulting engagements by collecting and analyzing data as required to inform business decisions that have been identified for investigation.
 
The successful candidate must be adaptable, highly self-motivated, have the ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment, and be able to build and maintain strong relationships through excellent verbal and written communication.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Developing and/or assisting in the preparation of cost models, financial models or business cases for projects and initiatives, for external clients and within Hatch
  • Critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources and reconciling conflicts
  • Deconstructing high level information to identify the underlying fundamental drivers and aggregating detailed information to inform a holistic understanding
  • Proactively communicating and collaborating with internal customers to analyze information needs and deliver written reports, presentations, and verbal reports, as needed
  • Collating and summarizing information using data collected from existing data sources, document analysis, workshops, surveys, and business process descriptions
  • Preparing cases and scenarios to assist analysts and consultants
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to analyze tradeoffs between planned objectives and business performance needs
  • Assisting with administrative support, as required
  • Successfully managing multiple initiatives simultaneously

 
You bring to the role:

  • Currently enrolled in a Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Materials, or Mining Engineering program, an Engineering Sciences program, a Business Administration or Commerce program, or an Economics program at an accredited university (enrollment in a co-op program is an asset), with at least two years completed, and in excellent academic standing
  • Creative problem solving ability
  • Good understanding of engineering and/or business fundamentals as they apply to developing business cases for initiatives and projects in the metals, energy, and infrastructure industries
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to research, filter, and clearly summarize complex content
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills
  • Prior work terms or co-op experience is considered an asset
  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset
