Radio Engineer (Hatch Associates Consultants, Inc., Ambler, PA): Design and develop radio communication systems and applications involving Microwave, Ethernet, audio, data, voice, train control communications networks, and tunnel radio systems, as well as integrated communications control centers. Develop conceptual designs and contract documents sufficient to allow a qualified contractor to design and build state-of-the-art communications networks for various clients, primarily public transit agencies. Establish design criteria, writing specifications, preparing cost estimates, and reviewing contractors’ submittals.

 

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-bachelor work experience in radio engineering.

 

Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

 

  • Developing RF networks supporting common railroad or bus operations, including voice, data, train control, or computer aided dispatch systems;
  • Utilizing RF propagation principles and tools such as EDX, Mentum Planet, or iBwave;
  • Developing in-building and Tunnel radio systems design;
  • Applying RF engineering fundamentals and methods, including radio interference and interference mitigation techniques;
  • Applying the Antenna theory and deployment techniques to develop systems;
  • Applying knowledge of RF protocols and standards, including 802.11, GPS, P25, LTE, Ultra-wideband, WiMAX, 3G/4G/5G, Conventional/Trunked, MIMO, and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), to design or engineering analysis of communications systems; and
  • Performing RF Network throughput, capacity latency, reliability design and calculations, coverage, and site surveys.

 

Domestic travel required up to 25%.
