The Advisory Analyst will join a team of professionals offering business improvement, investment and business planning, strategy, and operational readiness consulting services to clients in the mining and metals, infrastructure, energy, and finance industries. S/he will be responsible for analysis of businesses’ technical performance indicators and costs, identification, ranking and management of risks, development of financial models to support investment decisions, and preparation of client-facing deliverables such as reports, plans, and presentations. The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, hardworking, team-oriented, friendly, creative, insightful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with imperfect or limited information. The goal is to identify, unlock, and materialize value for our clients.


  • Take responsibility for delivering segments of analysis within consulting projects
  • Work with Hatch and client project teams
  • Select and use a variety of business analysis tools and techniques, asset improvement, process optimization and asset management techniques
  • Work on a variety of projects, with exposure to several industries, geographies and project types
  • Undertake potentially frequent international travel to client/project sites
  • Development of general business project skills and/or greater depth of knowledge within an industry or functional specialization
  • Develop discounted cash flow financial models and asset cost structure models
  • Assist with risk analysis for project assessments and due diligence reviews
  • Assist in the development of communications (proposals, reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Assist the clients to identify opportunities, create and execute strategy, achieve the expected outcomes, and sustain these outcomes through the development of asset strategies, key performance indicators and performance measures
  • Conduct appropriate audits or surveys to identify corrective or adjustment activities to ensure that improvement outcomes stay in line with the client’s business needs
  • Facilitate workshops with clients
  • Report and present material to Hatch and/or clients as to outcomes achieved and future activities required to sustain and continuously improve
  • Identify and engage existing clients to further develop business opportunities
  • Work with team members to continuously improve practice services and capability.



  • 2-6 years of industry experience relevant to mining, metals, energy, infrastructure, or finance 
  • Can work independently with minimal guidance from Engagement Managers
  • Ability to coordinate teams and support Engagement Manager activities
  • Regularly interacts with and presents to clients
  • Develops specialized skills to more directly support one or more of Advisory’s service offerings: Business Improvement; Investment and Business Planning; Strategy; Operational Readiness
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minor in business, commerce, economics, or relevant business course work preferred)
  • Proven experience in using research and analysis tools (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Superior communicator with the ability to interact professionally and considerately with client(s), gaining co-operation and respect.
  • Ability to work independently and under own initiative, or actively contribute as an effective member of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of software including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Experience working in a high-energy, deliverable-oriented environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Keep up to date with issues and trends in information systems and their use in the mining, metals, energy or infrastructure
  • Financial modeling experience is considered an asset
  • Experience driving plant improvements such as time, reliability, output, and quality
  • Strong data analytics skills, including experience with business requirements gathering, analysis and ability to translate business requirements into technical process solutions.
  • Knowledge of maintenance requirements, maintenance planning, shutdown / turnaround management, maintenance management systems, tools and methodologies such as reliability centered maintenance (RCM) would be considered an asset.


Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential and competency in additional languages will be considered an asset.
