Hatch Has an opportunity to be a leader within an integrated team which provides engineering services for projects within the USA Region and across the globe. Working closely with the engineers and designers within the group, the Senior Mechanical Designer will be an integral part of the team working on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop his or her knowledge in facility layout, equipment modeling and piping system design, while developing new skills. The candidate will help drive the Hatch Digital Project Delivery program, which includes intelligent 3D modeling, data centric multi-discipline engineering, and integrated delivery models.  Hatch also offers exposure to the latest 3D modeling and analysis tools to support project completion.

As a successful candidate, you will:

 

  • Previous professional experience must include heavy industrial plant layout and process and utility piping system routing.
  • Familiarity with ASME piping codes is expected.
  • Extensive experience with 2D and 3D CAD software is required (strict adherence to Hatch and Client drafting standards will be expected).  Experience with data-centric or BIM systems is preferred.
  • Sound design and modeling skills for plant layout, piping design and detailing
  • Thorough knowledge of piping components and materials
  • Sound knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and codes as required for piping design
  • Experience with isometric production control and monitoring
  • Experience with multidisciplinary coordination
  • Sound knowledge of design systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline
  • Thorough understanding of PFDs and P&IDs

 

You bring to the role:

 

  • Diploma or equivalent in engineering design or drafting.
  • 10+ years of experience in either mechanical or piping design.  Experience in both is preferred.
  • Ability to motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives
  • Strong deliverable focus, ability to plan the work
  • A high degree of understanding of inter-discipline dependencies related to the discipline
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Site experience in a technical role is preferred.
