Regional Leader and Senior Project Manager – Rail & Transit

 

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated leader with experience in heavy rail and/or large complex transit projects to join our growing team located in our Houston office.  This is an opportunity to lead the local rail and transit team and engage with clients and staff to manage the business as we expand in Houston and the Gulf Coast area. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects including interfacing and reporting to clients, monitoring and managing budget and schedules, and general project coordination;
  • Provide leadership on technical design and deliverable requirements including: vertical and horizontal alignments; quantity and construction cost estimates; engineering design reports; technical specifications; material and equipment selection; cost estimates; construction contract documentation; compilation of design/construction drawings; etc.;
  • Lead business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals in the Rail & Transit market;
  • Develop and maintain client relations.
  • Provide support to other Hatch offices and regions in the development and delivery of project requirements;

 

Attitude: Entrepreneur with a Technical Soul

 

Qualifications:

  • A Civil Engineering degree from a recognized university;
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas (licensed by exam).   PMP would be an asset;
  • 15+ years in design and project management experience for heavy rail and/or large complex transit projects;
  • Technically familiar with railway engineering design requirements and projects;
  • Must have sound knowledge of current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices;
  • Familiar with various civil engineering software design tools;
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and to budget;
  • Experience and a successful track record as a Class I Railroad engineering employee or experience delivering Class I railroad projects would be a definite asset for this position;
  • Engineering experience with Freight, Transit and High-Speed Rail are all considered valuable.
  • Experience with Railway Rules and Regulations, and Safety /Operations Procedures;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally);
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with the various parties involved in the process;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environment
