The communications specialist will assist in the development of internal and client-facing communications and marketing materials. The individual will work within a collaborative team environment, executing on various communications and marketing campaigns.

A significant portion of the successful applicant’s time will initially be spent supporting the communications activities of our global diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts and so the successful application must be passionate about, sensitive to, and knowledgeable about diversity and inclusion.

As part of the Hatch Marketing and Communications team, the communications specialist is accountable to:

  • Support the development of positive and engaging employee communications to promote corporate initiatives
  • Assist in the development and execution of external communications and campaigns
  • Assist in planning and coordinating events (meetings, social and cultural events, training, or speaking engagements)
  • Develop and execute associated social media and digital plans to support programs and campaigns
  • Develop press releases identifying Hatch’s unique culture, capabilities, and services
  • Develop awards submissions and supporting materials for industry and professional recognition
  • Assist the global D&I committee chair with day-to-day work, which is often complex and multi-layered as well as of a sensitive and confidential in nature
  • Liaise directly with leadership outside of the marketing department and across various disciplines, practices and geographies
  • Assist with implementing large-scale cultural change management initiatives

This role is well-suited for a self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving and project management abilities. The successful candidate can work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and attending to details. 

The ideal candidate possesses: 

  • A college diploma or university degree in the field of communications, journalism, or English and up to five years of work experience 
  • Very strong writing, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet all deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of client relationship management and/or industry best practices
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Adaptability in a dynamic, complex and fast past delivery environment
  • Creativity and experience with a wide range of innovative communications approaches
  • Professional and friendly attitude with excellent customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite would be an asset
