Hatch is currently seeking a Data Architect and Data Governance Solution Analyst for our Hatch Digital group covering Hatch’s business systems. This opportunity will be based out of our Mississauga office.

Hatch has a number of business systems. The iPas TF Team in Hatch Digital configures, programs, and maintains the SAP enterprise applications including SAP ECC (modules include HCM, Time, FI, CO, SD, PS, CPM and Readsoft), SuccessFactors, C4C, Fiori and Fiori LaunchPad, Business Warehouse, Business Objects as well as some other cloud-based HR solutions.

Agile development teams in Hatch Digital deploy other off-the-shelf systems and develop and maintain custom, Hatch-specific systems.

The complete business systems architecture covers all of these systems with many integrations between them.

The Data Architect and Data Governance Solution Analyst will proactively work with business owners, business representatives, other systems team members, SAP functional consultants, the technical teams and the reporting team to understand business and governance requirements around master data and other key data, and to implement solutions to address these requirements.

You are a team player, yet an independent thinker, comfortable with sharing and accepting ideas in an open manner. You are a hard worker, able to take on demanding and time-constrained tasks.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality of master data and key data in SAP and the other business systems.
  • Work with the Business data owners to document data definitions and business rules
  • Develop or facilitate the development of documentation covering master and key data flows and transformations between systems, including the business rules applied to the data.
  • Participate in all team initiatives to review early data model designs, integration data flows, data uploads and transformation designs and participate in testing.
  • Identify areas for data quality improvements and help resolve data quality problems.
  • Develop processes and procedures for data ownership, data management, integration, replication and uploads to support ongoing data maintenance and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the reporting team and understand the design of the data warehouse.
  • Work with business representatives to gather and understand functional requirements, develop complex queries and provide reports.
  • Respond to auditors concerning data management processes, improvements and information requests.
  • Design and implement systems solutions in collaboration with other team members, provide advice to management and stakeholders, recommend a course of action for required solutions: solution scoping, requirements analysis, gap analysis, feasibility, functional design, application configuration, technical specification, testing, production deployment, support and training.
  • Conduct / facilitate data cleaning to remove old, unused data.
  • Implement an archiving solution for SAP data.
  • Provide escalated production support if needed.


Skills / Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or Business degree or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in elements of data governance: quality, analysis, administration, architecture
  • Strong understanding of databases and data structures
  • Experience with or understanding of taxonomy management
  • Experience using modelling tools to convey concepts, architectures and designs
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to compare technologies and make recommendations to senior members of the team.
  • Experience in establishing a project plan and facilitating the setting of priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent inter-personal skills
  • Results-oriented, self-starter, capable of working independently and within a team environment to meet deadlines
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours as part of a global team and to travel if required


Nice to have

  • Qualification in information science, data management, computer science
  • Experience working with information security practices and security software
  • Understanding of privacy laws and regulations
  • Experience with software development
  • Experience with SAP Master Data Management
