Reporting to the Global Architecture Director as an Intermediate Interior Designer.  

 

As part of Hatch Architecture, the role of an intermediate interior designer is to participate in the production of deliverables relating to both interior design and architectural work, coordinating directly with designers, technologists, engineers, and project managers to successfully deliver diverse projects, buildings, and facilities. They coordinate work amongst all disciplines, CAD managers and sub-consultants. They require moderate supervision and guidance from senior interior designers and architects but also have accountability for their deliverable production.
 
As the successful candidate, you will: 
•    Develop the disciplinary design of buildings and facilities producing deliverables to illustrate conceptual, schematic, and detailed design. 
•    Produce project construction drawing sets, reports, studies, specifications, and other deliverables required in multiple stages of design. 
•    Coordinate interdisciplinary design with discipline leads, project managers, and stakeholders.  
•    Assist senior interior designers, senior architects, and senior architectural designers with delegated tasks for design, research, office administration, project managements, 

     construction administration and project closeout.  
•    Oversee junior staff activities taking responsibility for their work and mentoring them to develop their skills and capacities. 
 
You bring to the role: 
 

Essential:  
•    5+ years minimum of relevant work experience. 
•    Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interior design from an accredited post-secondary institution. 
•    Has moderate understanding of international, national, regional, and local building codes, by-laws, design guidelines, and regulations. 
•    Has moderate working knowledge of architectural graphic standards, CCDC, CHOP, technical standards, material and performance certifications, standards, and testing

     organizations such as LEED, ULC, ANSI, ASTM, CAN/CSI, NFPA, etc. 
•    Has good understanding of project management principles. 
•    Has performed work under the supervision of a licensed architect or registered interior designer being accountable for the quality and content of deliverables produced. 
•    Coordinated design work with disciplines such as structural, sustainability, mechanical, electrical, communications, utilities, etc. 
•    Produced construction drawings that include but are not limited to context plans, site plans, floor plans, demolition plans, renovation plans, reflected ceiling plans, furniture plans,

     interior elevations, sections, wall sections, construction details, millwork drawings schedules, etc. 
•    Assisted in the production of construction documents such as building code compliance reviews, technical specifications, performance specifications. 
•    Assisted in the production and review of technical documentation such as design briefs and reports, design basis and criteria, material take-offs, vendor documents, bids, and

     project sheets. 
•    Assisted in construction administration documents such as RFI’s, shop drawings, samples, site instructions, change orders, bills of materials, cost estimates, site visit reports,

     deficiency lists, etc. 
•    Worked extensively with two-dimensional drafting software for production of drawings such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc. 
•    Has worked with tridimensional modelling software such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, FormIt, Vray, Lumion, etc. to produce massing models, renderings, and animations. 
•    Worked moderately with BIM modelling software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, etc. to produce construction drawings. 
•    Worked with administrative software such as MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, ProjectWise, MS Teams, Webex, etc. 
•    Worked in fast-paced team environments while simultaneously managing multiple projects on different software platforms. Ability to learn new standards, skills, software, and

     tools required to perform the work. 

 

Preferred: 

•    3 plus years expereince with REVIT.

•    Member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario, or other relevant regulatory body.
•    Worked with parametric design software for production of models with Rhino, Grasshopper 3D, etc. 
•    Worked with graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. 
•    Used software such as Bluebeam Studio, Brava!, or iPas DM to perform quality checks, interdisciplinary review sessions and mark-ups for design packages and documents. 
•    Has a good working knowledge of furniture specifications and furniture finish selection. 
•    Experience in furniture inventory work, and planning with existing furniture, including systems furniture. 
•    Strong organizational skills, ability to work well in a team and individual environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
