The position is based at our Hatch office in Montreal working with our Regional Director for Eastern North America and interfacing with our Global commercial team. We are in search for an individual who can grow to provide comprehensive commercial support to our senior leadership team, collaborate with our business unit leads and project managers to help them in pursuing business development opportunities and with developing commercial proposals and pricing that adhere to Hatch’s commercial requirements.

The position involves preparing and reviewing commercial proposals, contractual and commercial terms of agreements, negotiations and conclusion of contracts for studies, consulting, engineering services, procurement and construction management projects. Any prior legal or technical engineering skills would be an asset. The position also involves educating and training other Hatch team members from time to time in base commercial and contractual concepts to supplement business development and project execution activities.

Hatch Global Commercial Team is comprised of professionals with comprehensive experience in commercial and contractual areas, business development, contract negotiations and project management. This is an opportunity to become a part of this global team.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Preparation and review of commercial sections of proposals;
  • Contractual reviews and negotiations of services (for small and medium size projects), sub-consultancy and non-disclosure agreements;
  • Review of other contractual documents in collaboration with Hatch’s legal counsels;
  • Commercial support of Business Unit and Business Practice leadership;
  • Client Engagement and establishing client relationships;
  • Core knowledge on Hatch standard rate schedules, terms and conditions and pricing models;
  • Research of precedents on existing contracts and ensuring consistency in pricing models for key global clients;
  • Advise provision and involvement in resolving project contractual disputes;
  • Research market intelligence relative to commercial competitiveness;
  • Participate in designing Global commercial strategies;
  • Proactive assistance and provision of feedback on commercial arrangements for select projects.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or law or business / administration
  • Master’s degree in Business or Engineering can be a great asset;
  • Strong negotiation skills with clients to support our interests as an organization
  • Previous work experience in one of one of the following industries (mining and metals, energy, or infrastructure) which are Hatch core industries or in fields such as procurement and / or contract administration;
  • Fluently Bilingual in French and English;
  • Excellent business writing and editing skills in French and English;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt effectively to maintain and manage changing priorities ;
  • Ability to manage spreadsheets and commercial / pricing data;
  • Strong business acumen and leadership potential with the ability to successfully collaborate with others at all levels of the organization;
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to consult other commercial team members in a pro-active, productive and cooperative manner;
  • Expert working knowledge of MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
