Hatch is seeking a motivated and talented Electrical Engineer who will be part of an engineering team providing services to large and small projects. This challenging position involves working as part of a highly-specialized team focused on energy and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge in energy generation, power distribution systems, instrumentation, protection, controls, transformers, switchgear, stand-by and emergency power systems, load and fault current calculations, power flow and short circuit analysis, SCADA and telemetry, lighting systems, and National and International code compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Electrical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.
  • Prepare technical documentation required for the execution of the project, including but not limited to general layout drawings, design criteria, design calculations, preliminary studies, value engineering studies, process flow sheets, standard specifications, standard detail drawings, construction and/or fabrication drawings, equipment lists, technical specifications, test procedures, commissioning procedures as-built documentation and data sheets.
  • Supervise, review, check and be responsible for quality of electrical designs performed by others in the design team.
  • Review, check shop drawings, calculus, designs, reports generated out of Hatch and related with the project to ensure conformity with engineering designs and standards
  • When required, monitor the fabrication and construction work to ensure that it is executed in accordance with the engineering designs.
  • Contribute to the development of different multidisciplinary design solutions and mentor other engineers. Provide guidance on Hatch quality standards.
  • Apply industry best practices and applicable codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, CEC, IEC, etc.).
  • Assist in factory acceptance tests (FAT) activities and commissioning on site as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum seven years project engineering experience. Experience in electrical design/consultancy/utilities ideally within a similar large engineering or multi-disciplinary project environment.
  • Registration as a professional engineer. Alternatively, registration as a candidate for professional engineer actively working towards professional registration.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
  • A desire to learn and continually develop.
  • Strong personal commitment to safety.
