The Hatch Project Controls Group is a global practice providing project controls expertise to Hatch's commodity-based business units. Our capability spans the whole project lifecycle, comprising scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, construction and project management.


Our Brisbane office is currently seeking a Senior Shutdown Planner to join a project team in the study phase of a major shutdown project in a complex processing environment. The successful candidate will be expected to remain with the project through the execution phase which will include FIFO to South Australia during execution in 2021. This role will entail;


  • Establishing the methodology, processes and procedures required to develop and manage a complex major shutdown schedule and associated progress measurement system
  • Developing the shutdown schedule, in accordance with the specified toll gate requirements, during the project study phases
  • Leading the schedule maintenance and progress measurement activity during project execution in 2020 - 2021.

Some of the key responsibilities of these roles will include:


  • Participate in the development of the work packages construction planning and constructability reviews
  • Work with the commissioning and operational readiness teams to plan the interfaces between construction, commissioning and handover to operations
  • Define methodologies, guidelines and process to ensure that the project and shutdown schedule is appropriately developed and maintained
  • Guide the process to develop and then maintain the project and shutdown schedule
  • Work with project team to ensure that schedule development and control requirements are understood and implemented
  • Develop appropriate shutdown progress measurement systems to support schedule maintenance.


Qualifications, skills and experience we are looking for:


  • Significant experience in major shutdown planning and progress measurement in a complex process environment on a remote site
  • Able to develop and communicate methodologies, processes and procedures to all stakeholders
  • Able to lead a team of planners and schedulers
  • Able to monitor, report and analyse progress measurement and earned value and recommend appropriate courses of action
  • Able to clearly articulate the content of the schedule to Project Leadership, Client Representatives and Independent Reviewers
  • Experience with Primavera P6
