This is an exciting leadership role with Hatch's Project Delivery Group in Sudbury, Ontario. Candidates can also be based out of the Mississauga office with travel to Sudbury for at least one week per month. This person will lead the Project Control resources allocated to the project so that they are motivated and have access to the required resources in order to meet the work objectives set for them. Manage and mentor Project Controls team to ensure that staff has an understanding of what is expected of them and has the necessary skills to execute the requirements. 


The Site Project Controls Manager is responsible for the overall delivery of Project Controls; including, Planning and Scheduling, Estimating, Cost Management, EPCM Control, Project Accounting, Trend and Change Management, Progress Measurement (EVM System) and Evaluation and Project Reporting. The Project Controls Manager assures Hatch procedures and best practices are applied to the project, as appropriate, and recommends changes where required. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Insure a culture of safety with a personal responsibility for stopping unsafe behaviour and thereafter reporting the incident so that corrective action can be obtained
  • Suppport project controls setup, project coding, systems set-up and reporting verification
  • Using confirmed prime contract scope, analyze EPCM performance and prepare detailed forecast for work
  • Measure, monitor, and report on Project KPIs and issue to Project Manager to implement improvement processes as necessary
  • Work with client to establish project accounting requirements including approvals, payment and reporting requirements


Qualifications and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate will have 15 years of progressive experience in developing and maintaining detailed engineering, procurement and construction schedules, construction progress methodologies and earned value metrics. 

  • Underground mining and mine development experiences are a must  

  • Experience in planning and scheduling of Mine Infrastructure for surface and/or underground operations. 

  • Worked on U/G mining areas i.e. Shaft Sinking, Raiseboring, Level Development, Material Handling, U/G Power Distribution, Cooling and Ventilation, Ancillary Infrastructure, Utilities (i.e. Compressed Air, Process Water, Dewatering, etc.), Communications, Refuge Stations, Stoping and Backfill. 

  • Heavy Industrial experience is an asset. 

  • Proficient user of P6. 

  • Previous experience as Lead Planner/Scheduler on EPCM / EPC projects.
