Hatch is seeking an Controls and Automation Lead to join our team in Tampa, FL. The Controls and Automation Lead is responsible for supervising a department of practitioners engaged in electrical and systems and process control engineering activities. The Controls and Automation Lead provides leadership and assists in the resolution of technical matters related to the discipline for all projects being executed in the office. In addition, he or she defines, develops and monitors all plans to meet the project requirements and supports the department of Controls and Automation practitioners to achieve the expected results in terms of quality, cost and schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Manager on Controls and Automation Systems projects.
  • Perform engineering, designs and calculations in accordance with established department standards; Design Procedures, Design Guidelines, and Best Practices.
  • Prepare engineering reports, studies, and calculations.
  • Assist with development of scope of work and man-hour estimates; plans, schedules, coordinates detailed phases of engineering work, preparation and updates of project design milestones, and staffing plans.
  • Identify customer's needs and translates them into work scopes and/or design specifications.
  • Research suitable solutions and prepares capital cost estimates.
  • Establish the design concepts and design data for work assigned to project teams and assures technical accuracy and conformance to project requirements.
  • Coordinate work flow to design team members.
  • Review Control System drawings and specifications and other disciplines' deliverables for compliance with project needs and client standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 10 to 15 years’ of “hands-on” engineering experience in Automation & Control Systems.
  • Experience serving as a Sr. Project Manager on Automation & Control Systems projects.
  • Experience in development of plans and specifications for Control System design and programming.
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong data analysis & technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing Control System Master Plans.
