Hatch is currently seeking a Junior Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join the Electrical team in Tampa, FL. Working closely with our senior engineers and designers, your primary role will be to act as a technical resource on challenging projects.

This position will allow candidates to develop and directly apply their knowledge in the Instrumentation, Process Control, Electrical and Control System Programming fields. This role includes work on the specification, design, analysis and commissioning of Process Control systems, PLC and DCS programming and instrumentation associated with local and international projects. In addition to theoretical design and analytical work, candidates will gain valuable on-site practical experience.


  • Provide Systems and Process Control Engineering design support to multidiscipline teams on maintenance, expansion, and new construction projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment specifications and instrument data sheets.
  • Update motor schematics, loop drawings, layout drawings and instrument location drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of PLC, DCS and HMI programming and functional descriptions.
  • Participate in site evaluations and data collection.
  • Provide on-site construction, commissioning and start-up support.


Students who have excelled in their studies at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in the discipline of Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering. In addition to demonstrating strong academic performance, candidates require good communication skills, a strong personal commitment to safety, an aptitude for working in multi-disciplinary teams, and a commitment to achieving engineering excellence. As time progresses, project duties and responsibilities will increase, facilitating registration of the candidate as a professional engineer.
