Industrial Water – Hydrologist, Water Management Specialist
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Hydrologist, Water Management Specialist to lead and support industrial water projects within the Industrial Water group with focus in mining/metals, and desalination. This role involves technical leadership, project management, team development, and client engagement, with a focus on advanced water treatment systems.
We are looking for a professional who balances design engineering with "boots-on-the-ground" problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote Hatch’s Industrial Water services across the Industrial Water Sector.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers within the Industrial Water team.
- Lead and contribute to engineering studies, designs, reports, and presentations.
- Prepare proposals, and client communications.
- Ensure quality assurance and control throughout project execution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Explore and implement innovative water management solutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in within Mining/Metals, and Desalination.
- Applied hydrology and hydrogeology in mining environments (surface water, groundwater, mine water)
- Watershed and catchment-scale hydrologic assessments
- Water balance development for operating, closure, and post-closure mine scenarios
- Seepage, pit lake, tailings, waste rock, and underground mine water interactions
- Extreme event and climate change impact assessment
- Water quality fundamentals and linkage to geochemistry and treatment requirements
- Integrated mine water management planning (operational, emergency, and closure phases)
- Diversion, conveyance, storage, pumping, and dewatering system design oversight
- Risk-based water management and contingency planning
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation.
