Project information management is the accountability and responsibility of the Engagement Manager. If the Engagement Manager appoints a Project Information Manager (PIM), then some of the Engagement Manager’s responsibilities are delegated as outlined in this Role Description.
Project Information Managers (PIMs) are responsible for the strategies and processes that support the planning, production, and delivery of information for the engagement’s entire lifecycle.


Serving all functions and disciplines, PIMs develop the digital execution strategy, the information production and delivery processes and workflows, and manage the systems to ensure all functional information is produced, integrated, and consolidated into an information model that satisfies the engagement’s information requirements.


The PIMs coordinate the requirements for digital project delivery and provide specialist advice to create value for stakeholders, while applying a continual improvement culture to all digital project delivery initiatives within the engagement.


PIMs maintain overall responsibility for:
 Information requirements management, including requirements for systems and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure.
 Information delivery planning bringing together the information from the deliverable lists and the schedule milestones.
 Systems/technology planning.
 Coordination of information production processes for documents, data, and models.
 Managing, monitoring and control of system and process performance.
 Systems issue resolution and support.
 Management of the Information Management function, its resources, and systems.
 Coordination of archiving and client handover of information and systems to external stakeholders, including the client and delivery partners.

 Qualifications and Experience

 Tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
 Minimum of 10 years of experience in Project IM.
 Experience of data-centric EPCM or Design-Build delivery.
 Experience in managing the following information management discipline functions: data management, document management, model management and drawing management.
 Experience of writing information management documentation including IM Plans, BIM Execution Plans, procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
 Management and governance of information management teams, including estimates, plans, and reporting.
