Student Vacation opportunity: Build the extraordinary, every day
The Hatch Student Vacation Program provides the opportunity to work on real projects and gain practical industry skills. We will help you through the transition, bridging the gap between your education and career.
As part of the CORE (Comissioning, Operations Readiness & Ramp-Up Excellence) team, you will gain exposure to you will gain exposure to a broad range of mining, energy and infrastructure projects, supporting clients through the transition from project delivery to successful operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants, contributing to commissioning planning, operational readiness activities, start-up and ramp-up support, risk identification, stakeholder engagement and project coordination. The role offers opportunities to work with multidisciplinary teams and gain valuable insight into how major projects are safely brought online and optimised for long-term performance.
Depending on project requirements, you may also have the opportunity to gain site exposure and experience working directly with clients, providing a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with large-scale industrial operations.

You bring to the role:
You will be working towards a bachelor's/master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical or Control Systems Engineering, ideally in your penultimate or final year of study, with a strong academic record. Candidates will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach to problem solving, and the ability to think laterally and innovatively in dynamic environments. You will have a genuine interest in commissioning, operations readiness and project delivery, along with a desire to gain hands-on site experience and exposure to large-scale mining, energy and industrial projects. Flexibility to travel and work across various locations within Australia is essential. You will also have an interest in exploring a future with a global consulting company and be committed to creating positive change for clients and communities.
The 12-week program commences on Monday, 23 Nov 2026. Please note, during this time Hatch will have its annual office closure from COB Friday, 18 December 2026 and will reopen Monday, 4 January 2027.
