As part of our Shared Services group, comprised of Finance, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Commercial, Legal and Facilities, we support the business achieve their goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. We ensure delivery of services through the skills of our people, methodologies, and systems.
Hatch is seeking a strategic and dynamic Client Engagement Director to join the Global Client Action Team (CAT), supporting growth across the Australia-Asia region. Our team brings expertise across client engagement, business development, marketing, pursuit management, engineering, and project delivery. This role focuses on driving strategic account growth, strengthening senior client relationships, and improving integration across Hatch. Based in Brisbane, you will work closely with business leaders and client-facing teams across the region to shape differentiated, client-centric value propositions and improve win outcomes. Drawing on your experience in securing and growing client opportunities, you will act as a coach and strategic partner, supporting teams to strengthen client engagement and position Hatch for long-term success.
You will operate within the Client Engagement stream, collaborating with Proposal and Pursuit Governance teams, and leveraging established methods, tools and resources to deliver consistent, high-impact outcomes.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Act as a strategic partner to Australia-Asia business leaders, shaping account priorities, aligning pursuits with growth objectives and driving a coordinated “One Hatch” approach across clients and sectors
- Serve as a professional internal coach and expert in both winning work and key account management, providing Hatch business leaders with knowledge, coaching and advice on developing client relationships
- Leverage Client Action Team tools and methods to guide consistent, high-impact client engagement outcomes:
- Build capability across the business by supporting account planning and strategic client engagement approaches, facilitating company-wide sales training programs
- Guide Account Managers in developing and executing effective account plans
- Partner with business leaders to review and prioritise their work-in-view pipeline, interpret market trends, and identify key pursuits
- Engage with pursuit teams, coaching and helping them to shape client planning, pre-positioning, and win strategy
- Ensure clear and compelling value propositions with consistent messaging, aligned to client priorities and a “One Hatch” approach
- Build and uplift client-facing presentation capability, coaching teams to improve their effectiveness in key client interactions, including presentations and interviews
- Lead post-engagement client feedback and growth actions, capturing insights to strengthen relationships, and coaching business leaders to identify follow-on opportunities
- Demonstrate one of our Hatch values and “Act like an owner” in your role - measure results and identify areas for improvement
- Answer basic questions on other areas the Client Action Team supports - proposals and pursuit governance, etc.
- Act as a visible Client Action Team presence, enabling effective client engagement across the Australia-Asia region
You bring to the role:
You bring significant experience in Engineering Account Management or Business Management, with recent and relevant experience relating to winning work in a professional services environment. You are motivated by achieving successful outcomes and enabling teams to secure and grow client partnerships. You have hands-on experience leading major pursuits (typically $10M+), with a proven ability to guide strategy and contribute to success. A bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Engineering is preferred, but you may also have a business qualification combined with relevant industry experience. You will bring experience within one of Hatch’s core sectors Metals, Energy or Infrastructure, ideally from Energy and/or Infrastructure. Success in the role will be shaped by your strong commercial acumen, along with high emotional intelligence, reliability, and curiosity. Skilled at building trusted relationships, both internally and externally, you are effective in influencing both peers and business leaders. Experience working directly with relevant client contacts will also be an advantage.
