Hatch is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team in Brisbane. The AUA Environmental team has a diverse range of backgrounds and experience across mining, infrastructure and power projects.  The breadth of our involvement includes developing regulatory frameworks and pathways forward for projects. We are empowered to influence engineering design to incorporate environmental and sustainability requirements.

 

In addition, we collaborate with our internal Climate Change and Advisory teams to deliver GHG accounting, strategies and decarbonisation projects. We work with our international teams on IFC and World Bank requirements and work with clients on material stewardship. We collaborate with our engineering teams to develop closure plans and design for the end of life of a facility or mining project offering full life-cycle solutions.

 

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide specialist advice in relation to statutory planning, planning and environmental approvals, permitting, environmental management and impact assessments to facilitate project outcomes.
  • Have comprehensive industry knowledge and the ability to prepare and present complex planning, management reports and permitting applications.
  • Develop environmental mitigation measures and monitoring programs.
  • identify technically robust and practical solutions for our Client’s environmental considerations, including project management of special projects addressing specific areas of their operations (i.e., waste management, emissions and discharges).
  • Ability to project manage and coordinate the completion of key environmental deliverables, in a timely manner to meet project schedules.
  • Work collaboratively within integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising and supporting global peers.

 

About you:

You will have at least 10 years’ experience and hold appropriate qualifications in an environmental/sustainability related discipline. A degree/post graduate qualification in environmental science, engineering or a related discipline. You will have worked in reviewing and applying environmental regulatory frameworks to project. You consider yourself to be technically excellent and want to be involved in a variety of projects. You’re interested in a collaborative approach to projects, and seeing how all the pieces fit together. You are proactive and independent, know how to plan and start tasks, and can identify when to seek out advice to progress these tasks.
