We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Lead to help drive a proactive safety culture that supports the health, safety and wellbeing of our people across Australia and Asia. Reporting to the Regional Manager, Health and Safety AUA, this role plays a key part in partnering with leaders, project teams and employees to develop effective safety strategies, strengthen compliance, and drive continuous improvement across our offices and project sites. This position can be based in either Brisbane or Perth. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert health and safety advice, guidance and problem-solving support to office-based and project teams.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Hatch's Health and Safety Management System.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external health and safety audits across regional and project operations.
  • Provide operational support to projects, including risk workshops, incident investigations, health and safety planning, audits and field verification activities.
  • Coach and mentor leaders and employees to build capability in safety compliance, risk management and assurance activities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of health and safety initiatives, programs and corporate objectives.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, standards and industry best practice, ensuring relevant stakeholders are informed and supported.
  • Support emergency management processes and actively contribute to emergency response activities as required.

 

About You
You are a collaborative and solutions-focused health and safety professional with strong influencing skills and a passion for creating safe workplaces. You hold a qualification in Health and Safety, ideally supported by experience within engineering, resources, construction or related industries. You bring strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk management, incident investigation and safety management systems, with ICAM Incident Investigator training being essential. Experience with ISO 45001 management systems and Lead Auditor qualifications will be highly regarded. You are an effective communicator with excellent technical writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to travel to project sites across the region are essential, along with the fitness to undertake site-based activities when required.
