We are currently seeking a highly motivated Risk Intermediate to join our team in Brisbane. As a key member of the team, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to developing your capabilities in risk management within a dynamic project environment. This role presents an exciting opportunity for early-career engineers to broaden their experience by supporting senior risk professionals across a portfolio of major projects and strategic initiatives.Through your initiative, collaboration, and analytical mindset, you will help ensure that risks are effectively understood, communicated, and managed to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project risk management frameworks and policies.
- Develop effective relationships with clients, Engagement Managers, Business Directors and engagement teams
- Assisting our Senior Technical risk facilitators to Develops deliverables for technical risk workshops and hazard studies (i.e. HAZOPs); with an initial focus on scribing and documenting workshop outputs.
- Assists project teams maintain risk registers including: periodically re-evaluate risks for their continued relevance, true priority, anticipated effectiveness of the proposed risk treatment plans and validity of documented trigger event;
- Develop profiency in Hatch’s IPAS RM risk management database to ensure effective and accurate reporting across the business
- Assist the AUA Regional lead with training and upskilling project teams in the areas of Project and technical risk ;
- Contributes to fostering a knowledge sharing culture by actively participating in the risk knowledge networks and collaborative forums.
You bring to the role
- A strong academic foundation in engineering or project controls, supported by tertiary qualifications in risk management, finance, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Practical exposure to project-level risk assessments, with familiarity in risk analysis tools such as PHA-Pro considered advantageous.
- A clear ambition to develop into a fully independent technical risk facilitator, with a focus on HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA methodologies.
- Demonstrated capability in data analytics and visualisation, particularly using tools such as Power BI to support risk-informed decision-making.
- Over five years of experience within the engineering or construction industry, providing a solid understanding of project environments and associated risks.
- Working knowledge of international risk management standards, including ISO 31000, ISO 31010, and IEC 62198.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive mindset, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
