As the Lead Drainage Engineer, you will provide technical and delivery leadership across drainage and stormwater scopes on major transport infrastructure projects. You will lead hydrologic and hydraulic design activities, manage discipline deliverables, and work closely with clients, project teams, and discipline leaders to ensure high‑quality, compliant, and safe outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage drainage design activities and package delivery, coordinating and mentoring the drainage team
  • Collaborate with discipline leadership to support project delivery and meet client, authority, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and approving authorities
  • Work closely with civil designers and drafters to ensure design outputs meet required standards
  • Provide technical input into design reviews and decision‑making processes
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance, safety, and risk‑based project delivery

About You

You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering and be CPEng and/or RPEQ accredited, or eligible to obtain accreditation. You bring 10–15 years’ experience delivering and leading drainage and stormwater design across civil infrastructure projects, with a significant focus on road, rail, and bridge environments. Your background includes both design and design management, along with exposure to construction delivery. You have strong knowledge of road authority drainage standards, with TMR experience highly regarded, and a solid understanding of Australian statutory and regulatory requirements. You are proficient in industry‑standard hydrology and hydraulic software including 12d Drainage, DRAINS, MUSIC, HEC‑RAS, and HY‑8, with experience in TUFLOW, XPSWMM, RORB, and XP‑RAFTS considered advantageous. Above all, you demonstrate high personal safety standards, strong communication skills, integrity, and a collaborative leadership style, with a genuine commitment to professional growth and mentoring others.
