The Hatch Brisbane office is currently seeking applications from both Experienced and Senior Mechanical Engineers to assist with an increasing workload that includes work on new challenging and interesting Projects.

The successful candidates will have demonstrated design experience in mining, metals, minerals processing or heavy industry environment.

Broad responsibilities of these roles will include:  establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, defining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. In addition, you will be required to develop, or provide input into 3D models and 2D drawings. Senior engineers should also be passionate about inspiring and mentoring junior personnel and teams.

Responsibilities of these roles may also include:

  • Assisting the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with defining and the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
  • Performing system analyses, establishing user requirements, analyzing system functional and performance requirements, defining design criteria, and establishing system layouts and designs
  • Preparing engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel and bin design and ensuring it satisfies user and system requirements
  • Preparing technical specifications and data sheets based on input received from other disciplines
  • Preparing and contributing to technical memos and reports
  • Providing input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates and design reviews
  • Preparing and/or reviewing project standard specifications and design criteria
  • Assisting in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports
  • Assisting with technical queries raised during the construction phase and commissioning of systems on site as required

Qualifications, skills and experience we are ideally seeking:

  • Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with safety requirements
  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering with solid post graduate experience (RPEQ highly regarded)
  • Previous experience and ability to travel and work on client sites as required
  • Have current knowledge pertinent to mechanical engineering compliance with relevant engineering standards and statutory regulations
  • Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with safety requirements
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with our internal and external clients
