Hatch are now looking for an experienced Mobility Tax Specialist to join our Global Mobility Team on a permanent full time position in our Brisbane "Barracks" office. The Mobility Tax Specialist will assist the Global Tax Team in the coordination of International and Domestic Assignment tax and payroll issues for Hatch assignees in the Australia and Asia (AUA) region.

Reporting to the Global Mobility Tax Manager, you will be required to develop and build internal relationships with key stakeholders that include HR, Finance, Payroll, Business Leaders and Individual Assignees by close interaction and consulting on specific Tax related topics.

The responsibilities for this role will include but not be limited to;

  • Provide general taxation advice to employees as it relates to their International or Domestic assignments;
  • Research of tax laws and planning opportunities for a cost and tax effective assignment structure of Hatch’s global assignee population;
  • Review cost estimates in relation to the projected tax costs of the assignments.
  • Assist in the year-end payroll review and reconciliation process for the assignees in the AUA region and prepare the required tax adjustments to compensation.
  • Coordinate and assist in shadow payroll reporting and ensure payroll data reported is accurate and complete;
  • Prepare/review tax reconciliations as required;
  • Respond to payroll and tax related queries from employees or other key stakeholders;
  • Assist with the processing of invoices from tax service providers;
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks and analysis, as required;
  • Assist in the coordination of third party services relating to tax advice and tax return preparation for Hatch assignees;
  • Work closely with Payroll and Accounting to maintain efficient systems and processes for the administration of international and domestic assignments;
  • Update and maintain the tax information section in Hatch’s Global Mobility Management system (APRO).

 

The successful candidate should demonstrate detailed experience advising and dealing with Taxation Elements for Australian Employees on inpatriate and expatriate assignments, expatriate payroll and tax equalization concepts. Understanding of multiple Tax treaties, currencies and local compensation in other countries will be highly regarded. This role will also require highly developed analytical skills and the ability to identify and deal with complex tax and payroll issues. Formal tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business will also be highly regarded for the successful applicant.
