Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch Roberts Day is currently seeking an experienced, results driven and highly motivated Senior Associate/Lead Urban Designer to join our Urban Solutions team based in Brisbane.  


We work with our clients to imagine and build cities of the future through a constant commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology.   We are looking for someone who can lead and devise master planning and urban design solutions to a range of projects, across a range of contexts and scales; and assist in shaping business strategy, lead high performing teams, and undertake a mentoring role within the studio 


As the successful candidate, you will:  

  • Lead and manage large and complex master planning and urban design projects including Greenfields and brownfields master planning; Town centre/CBD regeneration strategies; Transport corridor regeneration plans; Government initiated planning projects; Public-private infrastructure led projects; Viability and funding assessments and strategies; city-wide strategic development plans; regeneration strategies; public realm schemes; masterplans in other sectors such as aviation or sports; and design guidelines and codes 

  • Be capable of winning and delivering work (with guidance based on level of experience), from client development through bid strategy and execution, to project delivery and completion.  

  • Have a clear commitment to an integrated design philosophy and be capable of bringing together a broad range of specialist contributors in an innovative and efficient manner across the business and its disciplines. 

  • Be able to communicate complex design concepts simply and efficiently to a range of clients and be able to manage multiple projects and staff 

  • Coordinate design-led solutions to achieve project deliverables 

  • Effectively and efficiently manage project budgets, schedules and resourcing 

  • Deliver better outcomes for our clients by pursuing knowledge of emerging trends and practices and strive to incorporate such measures in all our projects 

  • Provide high quality client responsive service and efficient project delivery  


You bring to the role:


Significant experience as an Urban Designer, as a senior member of the team.  You will have proven experience in developing innovative and practical solutions to the issues facing our changing and evolving urban environments and possess a strong technical knowledge that has been successfully applied to a range of contexts.  You are an accomplished negotiator and great communicator with a flair for developing business and shaping business strategy.
