Are you an experienced planner looking to influence and grow Hatch’s service offerings in Queensland? We are seeking a Transport Planner Engineer who is Brisbane based  to build a strong project pipeline and to lead and support major multi‑modal transport planning initiatives across Queensland. This role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to projects aligned with the Queensland Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan, the OnQ Framework, the Project Assurance Framework (PAF), and Infrastructure Australia requirements. In this role, you will apply strong project management capability and specialist transport planning expertise to deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused outcomes for Queensland communities.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ability to leverage your professional network to help develop a strong future pipeline of work.
  • Lead and support the delivery of major transport planning projects, including initiatives linked to the Queensland Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan.
  • Provide specialist advice to ensure planning outcomes are fit for purpose, maximise benefits, align with network objectives, and gain stakeholder support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including TMR regions, Translink and local governments) to achieve integrated transport planning outcomes.
  • Manage project interfaces across related planning initiatives to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Support your Manager with various activities including project reporting, cash-flow management, briefings, and preparing technical presentations.
  • Contribute to a positive, high‑performance team culture focused on customer outcomes and quality delivery.

 

What You’ll Bring

You will bring proven experience in delivering complex transport planning or infrastructure projects, with the ability to balance multi‑modal priorities to achieve effective corridor outcomes. You will have strong technical expertise in major multi‑modal transport planning projects delivered through PAF or OnQ frameworks, along with highly regarded skills in areas such as transport modelling, bus network development, corridor travel metric assessments, benefit identification, public and active transport planning and operations, complex option development and assessment, and movement and place principles. Tertiary qualifications in planning or engineering, supported by a minimum of five years’ relevant project or technical experience, are also valued. To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and management of project interfaces. Your strong written communication abilities particularly in report writing and contributing to OnQ and PAF documentation will ensure high‑quality deliverables. Additionally, you will be an effective problem‑solver who can anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop strategies that support the successful achievement of project objectives.
