Are you ready to shape the future of underground mining? We’re looking for a dynamic Block Cave Mining Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering world-class mining solutions. In this role, you’ll lead and contribute to critical project phases, including FEL 1, FEL 2, and FEL 3 studies (Concept, Prefeasibility, and Feasibility), ensuring excellence through structured management processes. You’ll provide expert mining insights as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), participate in peer reviews, and bring innovative thinking to tackle complex mining challenges. Your ability to develop sustainable, strategic, and tactical solutions, while defining key value drivers such as cost and revenue will be essential to driving success. From mine planning and scheduling to influencing the future of block caving operations, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
 
Key Responsibities Include:
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients by understanding their needs, identifying opportunities where Hatch can add value, and connecting them with our mining practice 
  • Grow the mining business in the Australia-Asia region:
      • Understand the operation and services of Hatch and the mining practice within Hatch
      • Spearhead and pursue mining related business opportunities
      • Understand the critical success factors and business objectives of the practice, in order to identify, initiate and share technical and operational best practices
      • Support other projects, practices and pursuits, in Brisbane, the Australia-Asia region and Hatch internationally
  • Be a champion for innovation and improvement programs to drive differentiated services for the mining practice through the use of trusted as well as innovative mining technology
  • Display and actively promote behavior aligned to Hatch’s goal of zero harm to people and the environment
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and create a highly committed and aligned team environment focused on delivering positive project outcomes for the client
  • Carry clear responsibility and accountability for delivery of the mining practice goals
 
About you:
We are seeking a highly experienced professional with strong expertise in underground block caving and a solid background in mining engineering. The ideal candidate will hold relevant qualifications in mining or a related discipline and possess a deep understanding of engineering processes. Advanced proficiency in Deswik mining software is essential, along with the ability to mentor team members in its use. You will demonstrate exceptional business development acumen, strong technical analysis and report writing skills, and advanced safety awareness. Experience in cross-functional leadership within multi-disciplinary project environments is critical, as is a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure engineering across all disciplines. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in MS Office, are required. The successful candidate will be adaptable, self-driven, and capable of influencing stakeholders, managing conflict, and introducing innovative ideas. A proven strategic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify critical value drivers in mining operations or projects, is key. Finally, you will thrive in a collaborative team environment and bring flexibility, leadership, and mentoring capabilities to support the development of others.
