As a Senior Bridge Engineer in our growing USA Infrastructure business unit, you will be responsible for various technical leadership duties related to structural engineering of transportation bridges and structures.

 

The successful candidate will be able to work closely with project teams through the completion of various projects and task assignments in the role of Lead Structural Engineer. In this role you will perform and/or check structural analyses and develop or check design calculations using AASHTO and other design codes for various bridges and structural systems on linear transportation projects. Additionally, the successful candidate will have good knowledge of bridge load rating practices, bridge field inspection and reporting practices in the field of asset maintenance. This position can be based out of Hatch's Seattle, WA; Houston, TX; Brooklyn, NY or Los Angeles, CA offices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist in the development of bridge design deliverables including concept reports, design calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and construction schedules
  • Manage technical tasks and as required, lead projects to ensure project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet, or exceed the industry’s standard of care
  • Develop structural details and construction plans using MicroStation or AutoCAD;
  • Analyze and evaluate appropriate design solutions and design of transportation structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and foundations
  • Checking of engineering calculations, drawings, estimates, specifications, and construction schedule deliverables for accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Provide bridge design leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-career engineers
  • Manage, perform, and deliver condition inspection and reporting of in-service bridges
  • Manage, development, and check load rating calculations and reports
  • Participate in client and project development teams
  • Liaise with relevant agency /regulatory approval processes as pertaining to bridge engineering
  • Assist pursuit managers and project managers in the development of proposal documents
  • Communicate with client’s and express the client’s needs to project team
  • Set the standard for quality within the Bridges team

 

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering
  • 15+ years of bridge engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is required
  • Demonstrated experience working in a consulting engineering firm
  • Experience in planning, preliminary design and detailed design of new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridge; steel and concrete structures, bridge assessment, bridge load evaluation and culvert sizing;
  • Experience working with both government and private sector clients, including detailed design for contractor clients
  • Proficient in current bridge and structural design software applications such as CSi Bridge/SAP 2000, RetainPro, LEAP, PGSuper/PGSplice, LPile/Group as well as AutoCAD and or MicroStation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point and other general calculation software applications
  • Highly knowledgeable in AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards
  • Knowledge of codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC and OSHA codes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment are essential

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Post-graduate Qualifications in Structural Engineering
  • Registered Structural Engineer (SE)
  • Multi-state Professional Engineer registration.

 

Salary: $125,000 - 185,000
