Hatch is seeking an Environment, People, and Place Intern. Reporting to the Business Practices group, you will support offices globally working from our Brooklyn, NY office location.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Urban Planning/Studies, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science/Studies, or Environmental Planning ).

As the successful candidate, you will focus on:

• Quantitative and qualitative analyses in areas such as economic and fiscal impact studies, benefit-cost analysis and cost of inaction in the context of climate change
• Feasibility analyses and market studies for urban development/redevelopment
• Case-study research on trends in urbanization, transportation, energy and economic development
• Socio-economic analyses for economic policy development, infrastructure and real estate projects
• Urban design, zoning, and land use planning studies
• Environmental engineering analyses, including air, noise, soil, water, and waste management
• Project development and design that mitigates impacts to air, noise, soil, and water, including the determination of applicable environmental legislation and standards, specification of environmental design criteria, collection of baseline environmental data, and modelling and assessment of potential effects
• Preparation of technical reports, including those calculations and modelling of impacts for air quality, noise, soil and groundwater contamination, and surface water

You bring to the role:

• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning, real estate, economics, land use and/or environmental policy, environmental science/engineering,  and/or
• Quantitative skills; experience with quantitative modeling (e.g., financial, real estate, economic analysis/modeling, environmental, and climate change)
• Ability to undertake research and compile information on a variety of planning and environmental issues from multiple sources; prepare and present submissions/reports to support projects and ensure quality deliverables
• Detail-oriented and outcome focused with a willingness to collaborate within and beyond the internal team and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven environment
• An entrepreneurial and "can do" attitude, with an ability to work toward solutions despite real world constraints of limited data
• Collaboration with integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising with and supporting global peers
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint, ideally with basic InDesign familiarity

Compensation: 

Range: $27 – $32

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness. 
 

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
