Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Rail Vehicle Electrical Engineer to join our North American Infrastructure group in our Vehicle Electrical Engineering group in our Brooklyn, NY office. 

 

In this role the ideal candidate is an electrical engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must have knowledge of core electrical engineering concepts and have 10 or more years of engineering experience. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the rail transit vehicle electrical systems design and deployment and related fields.  General knowledge of vehicle electrical circuitry design rules and concepts and ability to work independently on related specification, design, investigation, and testing tasks.  Understanding of traction and auxiliary power converters, ethernet networking fundamentals, on-board communication & infotainment systems and hands-on test instrumentation capabilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop technical specifications and conceptual designs for the new and upgraded rail vehicles and the on-board systems.
  • Participate in the design review meetings and technical working sessions with the carbuilders and equipment suppliers.
  • Review electrical and electro-mechanical designs, prepare detailed descriptions of review findings.
  • Direct and/or participate in the new equipment qualification efforts at supplier facilities and on the trains including functional testing, electrical performance, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Prepare and/or review rail vehicle and vehicle on-board systems test procedures.
  • Hands-on engineering work with the rail transit vehicles, including testing, investigations of equipment malfunctions, and condition assessments.

Salary: $120,000 - $155,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
