Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated, results-driven, Railway Signaling Engineer to join the Rail Systems team in one of our Western Canada locations (Calgary, Edmonton, Mississauga, or Vancouver)

 

Working in a team environment, this opportunity will challenge your technical skills as you deliver complex railway signaling projects and provide an opportunity to lead through mentoring, training and development of more junior staff.  
 
As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Develop designs for at-grade crossing warning systems and signal systems conforming to applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed design deliverables for signaling projects, including application logic.
  • Develop material and construction specifications and quantity estimates.
  • Develop contract documents incorporating client signal requirements.
  • Interact with clients to develop design scope and provide budget and schedule updates.

 

You bring to the role:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligible for license.
  • 5-10 years' experience in the development, design and delivery of railway and/or transit signal system solutions.
  • Familiarity with railway signaling and train control principles, circuits, industry standards, Transport Canada and/or FRA regulations, and AREMA guidelines.
  • Ability to plan and produce compliant signaling schemes with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with a variety of relay and microprocessor-based railway signaling and highway-railway grade crossing systems, including ElectroLogIXS VLP and XP4.
  • Capable of completing work in a controlled environment to meet client, budget and schedule requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
