Hatch is looking for an energetic, creative and self-motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer/Project Manager that is a licensed electrical engineer with design and project management experience. Experience with municipal water facilities (water plants, booster pumping stations, surface water transmission, raw water pumping stations, disinfection system conversion, wastewater treatment plants, sanitary sewer lift stations and storm water pumping stations) is a plus but not a requirement.

 

The ideal candidate must have a passion for working in a team environment, possess superior communication skills, and the desire to grow their career along with our firm. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls practitioners to ensure proper and timely execution of projects for regional water facilities.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Produce and manage technical plans and specifications, ensure NEC code compliance, routinely coordinate with client and other disciplines in support of project completion.
  • Take ownership and participate fully in overall project delivery elements (cost, schedule, quality, information gathering, contracts, and customer satisfaction). This role includes a heavy emphasis on being the lead electrical engineer on projects and marking up / producing construction documents via close coordination with junior engineers and designers.
  • Manage and oversee development technical plans and specifications, ensure NEC code compliance, routinely coordination with client and other disciplines in support of project completion.
  • Manage project development from conception through completion (both large and small) in accordance with program objectives.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, scope development, design and construction contracts, documents, procedures and controls for assigned projects.
  • Lead, motivate, develop and support a team of committed and professional employees to maximize the business, and mentor graduate engineers and design staff throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop good working relationships with public and private sector clients and implement processes to ensure effective partnerships are developed and maintained.
  • Successfully secure and develop profitable projects within the overall operations and strategic framework of our clients.
  • Ensure projects are consistently completed within quality, budget and program expectations and that appropriate project monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and administered.
  • Ensure design activities, processes and technical standards are effectively coordinated.
  • Develop electrical work plans for insertion into the project specific execution plans.
  • Ensure development and maintenance of the projects’ scope of work documentation and revisions as required during the design evolution.
  • Manage and review the Engineering Work Packages (EWP) associated with all deliverables and time-based functions to ensure that budgets and schedules are being met and take corrective action if necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain a resource forecast and plan that supports the engineering schedules.
  • Represent the electrical, instrumentation, and controls practice in project engineering coordination meetings, as required.
  • Schedule, coordinate and participate in design reviews.
  • Ensure coordination, between the electrical and systems and process control teams and other disciplines, of all activities being performed as designs evolve.
  • Ensure that quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with project procedures and the quality assurance plan.
  • Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of electrical and systems and process control engineering work.
  • Ensure that all work designed, manufactured and supplied in the electrical and systems and process control engineering disciplines complies with the relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ohio; candidate must be licensed by exam.
  • 7 or more years of professional experience in Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls designing power distribution systems, motor control centers, instrumentation and controls, SCADA and automation, telemetry and communications, standby power systems, and development of load and fault current calculations, power flow models, and short circuit analysis.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively within a group and team environment working inner office, from home offices and from multiple global offices to complete both large and small projects.
  • Must possess a solid background in the development of technical plans and specifications.
  • A clear understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant Standards.
  • A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline.
  • Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies.
  • Strong ability to delegate tasks and promote the effective performance of team members.
  • Must have a solid track-record in management and business development, with exceptional relationship-building skills.
  • Have credibility, stature and personal presence to lead the individuals and operate effectively as a key member of the team.

 

Desires:

 

  • Experience performing electrical short-circuit analysis and coordination studies using modeling software.
  • SCADA and HMI programming knowledge and experience.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Knowledge of NIST Guide to Industrial Control Systems Security.
