Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Regional Manager Health & Safety - Europe to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Essen, Germany.

Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors. 

 

This position reports to the Regional Director Project Management & Construction and functionally to the Global Director, Health & Safety.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementation, monitoring and optimization of the specifications and processes of the Hatch safety management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 45001:2015
  • Execution of the functions of occupational safety specialist in accordance with § 6 ASiG
  • Carry out incident management (investigation, statistics, cause analysis and remedial measures)
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of the Hatch Safety Management Information System (iPas SM) in the office and on projects
  • Working towards implementation and compliance with legal, standard and project specific HSE requirements
  • Creation and implementation of risk assessments
  • Participation in the preparation and maintenance of safety data sheets and operating manuals
  • Preparation and participate in the Occupational Safety and Health Committee meeting
  • Preparation, support and participation in internal and external audits
  • Support in checking the law monitoring and maintaining the legal register
  • Ensure performance, assessment, training and development for all staff
  • Provide workers compensation and rehabilitation support and advice.
  • Assist the Global Director Health and Safety with promoting, representing and improving the Health & Safety practice.
  • Facilitate the preparation and implementation of project health and safety plans
  • Provide input, guidance and review of Health & Safety sections for proposals.
  • Coordinate office/project weekly reports, monthly reports, audits, reviews and close out reports.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Significant experience in health and safety, both in heavy industrial construction and an office setting, with at least 3 years at a senior level.
  • Professional experience as an H&S manager in plant engineering, service or maintenance companies and familiarity with the relevant standards (ISO 45001, SCC)
  • Completed technical studies or comparable technical college training
  • Qualification as an occupational safety specialist or safety engineer in accordance with § 7 ASiG
  • Superior writing, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Equally comfortable in the office or a project site
  • Willingness for occasional business trips
  • A high level of computer skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff and teams in health and safety.
  • Able to speak, read and write in German and English at a professional level
