An exciting position is available for an experienced lawyer to join our Contracts and Corporate Legal Services Group. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will become a trusted advisor to our business for some of the largest capital projects in North America. You will work side-by-side with other professionals who are recognized leaders in their fields and are passionate about delivering a better world through positive change.
Key Responsibilities
- apply your experience and good judgement to deliver sound legal advice to our clients and internal stakeholders
- draft and review commercial agreements and other legal documents with the objective of maximizing value and minimizing risk in a manner consistent with internal governance
- apply a consultative approach to your interactions with Hatch’s clients to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones
- help key decision-makers refine and implement business plans in a way that balances flexibility, quality and integrity
- in conjunction with internal stakeholders and external counsel, develop and execute claims management strategies that increase the likelihood of timely and effective resolution of disputes.
- apply your legal and business acumen to our precedents, policies and procedures. Recommend changes that you believe will improve and add value.
- demonstrate an understanding of the core principles of corporate law and, where appropriate, take the initiative to manage merger and acquisition transactions through inception, due diligence and closing.
- with the support of colleagues, develop and deliver training to various members of Hatch’s business
- contribute to Hatch’s internal and external publications on topics of interest.

Requirements
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited Canadian law school.
- admitted barrister and solicitor in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience with a major law firm or the legal department of a major corporation
