Summary of Position

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations, accounting compliance, governance, payroll validation, taxation, and reporting activities of Hatch India. Leveraging strong technical accounting and taxation expertise, the incumbent will provide support to the Regional Finance Director, Country Director, and broader Finance team while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.

The role requires a proactive professional who can manage financial reporting, statutory audits, payroll oversight, tax compliance, and process improvements while maintaining high levels of accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including:
    • Statement of Financial Position
    • Statement of Profit and Loss
    • Cash Flow Statements
  • Summarize and report on the financial status of Hatch India.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounting transactions.
  • Review and approve general ledger reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial information and investigate variances.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies through detailed analysis and corrective action.

Month-End, Year-End & Audit

  • Support and coordinate month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Lead the annual statutory audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Substantiate financial transactions through review and audit of supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

Internal Controls & Governance

  • Maintain and strengthen accounting controls by ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop, document, and improve financial processes and accounting policies.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and compliance risks.
  • Support governance initiatives and compliance monitoring across the business.

Payroll & Employee Costs

  • Review and validate monthly payroll calculations.
  • Review salary variance calculations and investigate anomalies.
  • Ensure payroll journal entries are accurately recorded in SAP.
  • Verify salary transfer payments prior to release.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax and statutory requirements.

Taxation

  • Provide tax planning opportunities and insights to the Global Tax Team.
  • Coordinate and oversee:
    • Corporate income tax compliance
    • Tax return filings
    • Withholding tax compliance
    • Tax audits and assessments
  • Monitor changes in Indian tax legislation and assess the impact on the business.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable direct and indirect tax regulations.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to accounting staff.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding project status, financial matters, and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications & Experience:-

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting, taxation, and financial management.
  • Strong experience preparing financial statements in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience working with statutory audits and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Indian taxation legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).
  • Experience interpreting commercial agreements and determining appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • General ledger accounting
    • Financial reporting

    • Statutory compliance
