Senior Civil Engineering Lead
Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineering Lead to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Gurgaon/ Gurugram – Delhi NCR
Role Summary
Lead the delivery of civil engineering solutions across multidisciplinary projects—from front‑end planning through detailed design—within the Metals, Energy, and Infrastructure sectors. Balance technical leadership, team development, and client engagement to deliver safe, high‑quality, and ona‑schedule outcomes.
Location: Gurugram (Hatch India) — flexibility to support regional/global projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the civil scope across earthworks, site grading, drainage, roads, utilities, pump stations, and site development for FEL/front‑end through detailed design.
- Prepare and manage Engineering Work Packages (EWPs); integrate civil scope with overall project execution plans and monitor scope, cost, and schedule.
- Produce and review engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and tender documentation.
- Represent the civil discipline in multi‑discipline coordination meetings to ensure design integration and constructability.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and authorities for approvals, RFIs, and technical queries; provide site/construction support as required.
Team & Resource Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, designers, and draftspersons; drive knowledge sharing and skills development.
- Develop manpower/resource plans; assign work, balance workloads, and track progress and quality against deliverables.
- Review and approve work produced by the team (engineers, designers, technologists) and provide timely feedback/coaching.
- Promote Safety‑in‑Design and quality culture across the team and suppliers/partners.
Technical Excellence
- Oversee and verify designs for grading/earthworks, drainage layouts, utility networks, and temporary works; lead formal design reviews and QA checks.
- Enable model‑based coordination and clash detection; champion the use of 3D/BIM tools to improve accuracy and reduce risk.
- Apply and enforce relevant design standards, codes, and Hatch procedures; ensure calculations and deliverables are peer‑reviewed and traceable.
- Leverage Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, and GIS tools (e.g., Global Mapper) to support data‑driven design and decision‑making.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (accredited institution).
- 15+ years’ civil engineering design and project leadership experience in multidisciplinary environments.
- Proven team‑lead capability; strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and familiarity with OpenRoads/MicroStation and applicable design standards.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred
- Chartered/Professional Engineer registration (or in progress).
- Experience across roads, drainage, and utility infrastructure; familiarity with BIM processes and GIS.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is advantageous.
Additional Information
- Travel: Occasional travel to project sites and other offices.
- Team scope: Civil and hydrotechnical engineers, designers, and draftspersons/GIS analysts.
