Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Piping Designer / Senior Piping Designer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Gurgaon/ Gurugram – Delhi NCR
Summary
The Piping Designer / Senior Piping Designer is responsible for the development of piping 3D models and 2D deliverables in accordance with project requirements and Hatch standards. The Piping Designer assists in resolving piping technical issues and provides guidance to other designers as well as supervising and coordinating piping design tasks.
Employment Type - Fixed Term Contract
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture
- Layout complex plant and piping systems using 3D modeling design tools
- Perform clash detection of models and other disciplines models and coordinate actions and closeout
- Model existing structures, plant and equipment
- Ensure all drawings, 2D extractions and piping deliverables are checked to comply with Hatch quality standards
- Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and project procedures for all design activities
- Work in conjunction with engineering staff, prepare design concepts for internal and client reviews
- Develop and check engineering design details and special items drawings
- Perform design for piping/mechanical plant models using project specifications/procedures and applying industry best practice
- Use vendor drawings and information sheets to develop and check the model
- Coordinate and verify piping Material Take Offs (MTOs)
- Ensure coordination with designers and engineers of other disciplines
- Train and mentor junior designers and provide guidance on Hatch standards and quality requirements
- Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures
- Facilitate formal piping design reviews
- Extract stress sketches
- Coordinate pipe support design including special pipe supports with piping stress analyst input
- Support the application of piping systems to achieve the best project outcomes
- Extract and check ISOs
- Produce piping General Arrangement (GA) and equipment location drawings
- Assist in the resolution of piping design issues during project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning
You bring to the role:
Essential
• Advanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical)
• Minimum of five years piping design experience
• Extensive experience with Bentley and/or Intergraph 3D / Aveva 3D design systems
• Sound design and modeling skills for plant layout, piping design and detailing
• Thorough knowledge of piping components and materials
• Sound knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and codes as required for piping design
• Experience with isometric production control and monitoring
• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination
• Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound working knowledge of design systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline
• Thorough understanding of PFDs and P&IDs
• Experience within a large project, multidisciplinary EPCM environment

• Experience in mentoring and supervising designers
