Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Rail). Reporting to the Infrastructure group, you will support offices globally working from our Houston, TX office location.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

 

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Organize and work with technical groups in the delivery of project deliverable requirements, including interfaces with rail and terminal operations, signaling, wayside monitoring, overhear catenary systems, rail communications, structures, drainage, roads and rolling stock
  • Prepare civil engineering analyses and review including: evaluating vertical and horizontal grade and track alignments; quantity and construction cost estimates; engineering design reports; technical specifications; material and equipment selection; cost estimates; construction contract documentation; compilation of design/construction drawings; etc.
  • Interface and communicate with team on project specific tasks
  • Provide support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, estimating deliverables, and the associated effort to complete
  • Actively participate in supporting internal and external development and training activities
  • Support development of all models and drawings, ensuring accuracy of all models and layout of drawings

 

You bring to the role:

  • Willingness to travel and work onsite (including remote locations)
  • Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred

  • Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
  • Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
  • Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
  • Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
