Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch, a full service engineering consultancy, is currently seeking an Senior Electrical Engineer (Water) with design experience in municipal water facilities (water plants, booster pumping stations, surface water transmission, raw water pumping stations, disinfection system conversion, wastewater treatment plants, sanitary sewer lift stations and storm water pumping stations). In this role,you will provide technical support to electrical, instrumentation, and controls practitioners to ensure proper and timely execution of projects for regional water facilities.

Our team consists of highly specialized electrical, communication and technology engineers focused on applying emerging technologies to critical infrastructure projects. This challenging position involves working as part of a highly specialized team focused on planning and design of electrical, automation and communications systems for water, transportation, and industrial projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as senior project engineer supporting the planning and design of water and wastewater projects; coordinating and supervising subconsultants and project staff; working closely with the project manager in delivering all projects on time and within budget, while meeting quality requirements
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, supervise and oversee the development of technical plans and specifications, ensure NEC code compliance, routinely coordination with client and other disciplines in support of project completion.
  • Identify and recommend technological or engineering changes that will improve the design, regulatory compliance or reduce cost
  • Monitor, direct and control activities of engineering sub-consultants
  • Perform design reviews and engineering discipline coordination
  • Assist in development and implementation of quality assurance plans and field inspection plans on assigned projects
  • Participate in preparing proposals in support of marketing and sales activities
  • Represent the electrical, instrumentation, and controls practice in project engineering coordination meetings, as required.
  • Ensure coordination, between the electrical and systems and process control teams and other disciplines, of all activities being performed as designs evolve.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas (or eligible to obtain); candidate must be licensed by exam.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in electrical, instrumentation and controls for municipal water/wastewater treatment and transmission facilities designing power distribution systems, motor control centers, instrumentation and controls, SCADA and automation, telemetry and communications, standby power systems, and development of load and fault current calculations, power flow models, and short circuit analysis.
  • Must possess a solid background in the development of technical plans and specifications and clear understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

 

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • SCADA and HMI programming knowledge and experience, would be an asset.
  • Experience performing electrical short-circuit analysis and coordination studies using ETAP or EasyPower modeling sofware
