Position Summary:

 

Hatch’s Energy team is seeking an Energy Storage Lead – USA with interest in integration of Utility Scale Stationary Energy Storage Systems to work in eGRID team. Reporting to the Global Lead, Renewable Power and Energy Storage, you will support projects globally working from Hatch’s Houston, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis or Tampa office.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Global Lead, Renewable Power and Energy Storage to grow Hatch’s Energy Storage business and offerings in the USA and globally
  • Support our existing clients and new clients in the USA and globally
  • Contributing to and managing technical scopes of work associated with the specification, design, procurement and construction of energy storage system, either as stand-alone or hybrid facilities as a key subject matter expert
  • Mentor and train junior engineers in energy storage and hybrid systems.
  • Assist in technology assessment and selection, techno-economic analysis and sizing, technical specifications, and delivery for our projects
  • Work closely with other subject matter experts in wind, solar, microgrids, system studies, controls, transmission and distribution, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable of the energy storage market and industry in the USA and globally
  • Be knowledgeable about leading energy storage vendors and emerging technologies
  • Prepare presentations and reports
  • Write technical papers and present at conferences to demonstrate expertise in the field and engage clients
  • Support the Business Unit in business development including fostering relationships with existing clients, preparing proposals for new work, identifying market areas and pitching clients
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Conduct site visits, factory visits, field assessments and client engagement meetings

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with an Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related degree with interest in Energy Storage
  • Experience working for and EPC and or renewable developers is highly desirable.
  • Post-graduate degrees in a related field are considered an asset
  • Good knowledge of the various USA utilities, ISOs, and RTOs
  • Good knowledge of policies, standards, guidelines, rules and regulations as applicable to North American energy markets as well as other jurisdictions
  • Good knowledge of energy storage technologies, techno-economic analysis and sizing, vendor engagement and solution assessment, specification, design, procurement and construction of energy storage system, either as stand-alone or hybrid facilities
  • Technical experience with stand-alone and hybrid energy storage systems
  • Technical experience of the benefits and drawbacks of various energy storage technologies and their implementation (layout, cost, use cases, etc.)
  • Technical experience in the design of energy storage facilities, including facility layouts, technology selection, DC collector network and MV collector network, communications and monitoring, substation design, and interconnection
  • Experience with utility scale project management and delivery, and construction is considered an asset
  • Experience with utility scale Wind and/or Solar is considered an asset
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites including remote sites
  • Software Tools familiarity with the following, or comparable:
    • System Modeling such as Homer Pro, PVsyst, PSSE, and PSCAD
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, including word, excel and power point
