Mechanical Package Coordinator
Reports To: 
Area Manager/Project Manager

1. Summary
The Mechanical Package Coordinator assists the Project Manager, or his Area Manager delegate with the design and execution of one or more simultaneous sub-projects. The Package Coordinator has overall responsibility for all activities associated with a specific equipment/contract package. The responsibility includes completion of all technical as well as commercial activities from the functional analysis of the User Requirement, preparation of the technical specifications through construction to commissioning and handover of the plant and documentation to the Owner or Operator. The Package Coordinator is the single point of contact across the project functions and between the project and the bidders/vendors/suppliers. The Package Coordinator takes this responsibility until the package is commissioned and closed out.

2. Key Responsibilities
• Provide support to the Lead Engineer and assume overall responsibility for all activities associated with a specific purchase / contract package
• Provide support to the Area Managers by owning and assuming responsibility for all activities associated with specified equipment in the package
• Assume overall responsibility for the analysis, design, and schedule of the package with a key focus on developing system solutions that meet operational requirements
• Assume responsibility to expedite all technical as well as non-technical groups associated with the package
• Ensure that the system to be delivered complies with all regulatory requirements
• Ensure that the Required Operational Capability is embedded in the equipment requirements and design
• Ensure that WBS’s correlate between disciplines
• Manage change through inception, design, manufacturing, delivery, to commissioning, and handover of documentation and system to the owner
• Coordinate, in conjunction with the Contract Administrator, all commercial activities for the duration of the package
• Obtain a good understanding of the packaging strategy and commercial conditions included in the project execution plan
• Obtain all necessary approval signatures prior to issuing the package onto the market
• Coordinate and negotiate with the customer on specifications and deliverables
• Prepare the vendor data schedule and requirements section of the specification, in collaboration with the other practices and the project planner
• Drive key dates for reception of preliminary and certified vendor data that meet the project’s schedule requirements
• Assume responsibility for the preparation of the monthly forecast of schedule and cost at completion
• Prepare and coordinate approval for project changes having an effect on each package.

3. Qualifications and Experience
Essential
• Relevant Engineering qualification
• Minimum 5-10 years experience in EPCM project environments
• Exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle (concept, basic detail design, construction, commissioning, handover)
• Strong technical knowledge of the equipment or services forming part of the purchase package or contract, ideally within similar sized or multi-disciplined engineering projects
• Experience in support of commercial management (equipment package or contract)
• Experience in the flow of information & data within a project environment
• Familiar with construction and commissioning methodologies for each discipline and performance testing
• Exposure to engineering analysis and design processes
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, management and leadership skills
• Foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for improvement
• Ability to take a proactive approach to teamwork and decision making
• Ability to maintain a strong delivery focus
• Willing to assume responsibility
• Ability to motivate others
• Project staff management capability
• High attention to detail
• Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.

Preferred
• Experience in layout requirements for complex plant designs
• Experience in specifying plant with a combination of engineering discipline elements
• Familiar with plant integration techniques; logistic support analyses and logistics elements; commercial contract conditions and the forms of contracts used; corporate quality and safety systems; operational readiness concepts; and health and safety requirements relevant to the project, equipment, and site
• Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, PFDs & P&IDs
• Full working knowledge and implementation of Hatch systems and procedures (iPas, Data Manager etc.)
