Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Site Project Controls Manager to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG). The office base for the position will be Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX, or Salt Lake City, UT, while the site will be in Tennessee for a major execution project. PDG helps clients reach their business goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. Summary


The Site Project Controls Manager is responsible for the delivery of Project Controls on site; including Cost Management, Planning and Scheduling, Trend and Change Management, Progress Measurement and Evaluation and Project Reporting. They are responsible for ensuring all site Project Controls practices are delivered to meet the requirements of the Project Head Office Project Controls team.

Safety

 

  • Promoting a safe work environment through a strong personal commitment to safety
  • Personal responsibility for stopping any unsafe behavior as and when it occurs, and thereafter reporting the safety incident so that corrective action may be obtained
  • Familiarization with Hatch safety processes, protocols and procedures.

 

Project Controls

 

  • Identify site project controls systems requirements and assist with set-up of project controls systems
  • Using project drivers and KPIs and client requirement specifications (ex Project Manager), measure, monitor and report Site KPIs and issue to Project Manager to implement improvement processes, as necessary
  • Develop, maintain, optimize and monitor progress of the execution schedule
  • Implement project trend and change management process for the scope of work under the control of the site organization and input, as required, to the project head office trend and change management process
  • Review and approve project site estimating deliverables (definitive estimate, trends)
  • Analyze site EPCM performance and prepare a detailed forecast of remaining work using confirmed contract scope, staffing plan, and definitive cost estimate
  • Review site progress measurement and earned value reports (produced by CAPEX controller) and issue to management monthly
  • Compile and organize project data into the required EPCM Project Dashboards and required reporting, trend and forecast preparations, and budget control and mitigations

 

Project periodic status reports, including:

 

    • Confirmation of periodic status reporting requirements, content, format, and issue date
    • Evaluation of site progress and provide write ups for the monthly progress report, based on trend/PCN register, EPCM progress report, schedule and updated budget, commitment, forecast, payment and cost statements

 

 

You bring to the role:


Essential

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or other relevant discipline or substituted project experience 
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in a project environment with detailed knowledge of estimating, cost control, planning and quantity surveying
  • Experience in high valued, multi-discipline EPCM environment projects from inception to close out

 

Knowledge in the following disciplines:

 

  • Estimating: Understanding of the fundamentals of estimating and the ability to review total Project and Change Notice estimates to ensure accuracy of estimated costs for the scope of work at hand.
  • Cost Control: Ability to understand composite project budgets, forecasting final costs and the control of the budget, i.e. commitment and actuals. Full management of project trends and changes to determine legitimacy and estimated impact to project schedule and budget. Management of the usage of project allowances, i.e. contingency, escalation and Forex. Cash-flow monitoring.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Ability to read and understand Project Schedules to ensure a true reflection of the Project progress and forecasted dates. Ability to verify impact of Project Changes to Project Schedule.
  • Quantity Surveying: Knowledge of quantity surveying principals and standard systems of measurement. Ability to verify progress payments, final invoices, escalation and Forex calculations.
  • General construction knowledge together with the understanding of the fundamentals of engineering models and construction drawings.

 

Preferred

 

  • Post graduate qualifications in management or other professional certification
  • Experience in the establishment of reporting standards, formats and frequency
  • Experience in the, consolidated preparation, collation and presentation of project, financial and other reports
  • Knowledge of EPCM principals, and the ability to interpret and verify incentive agreements
  • Possesses strong personal computer skills (MS Office package)
  • Ability to work under pressure and a key factor is that the incumbent is deliverables driven
  • Interpersonal skills, especially the ability to deal with people, staff and stakeholders at different level of seniority
  • Broad business acumen including risk assessment and management
  • Well developed communication and presentation skills
  • Conflict management skills
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills
