The role: We are seeking an Environmental, People and Places Intern who combines strong leadership and team collaboration skills with a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships. This individual will engage in a variety of environmental engineering work, including air, noise, soil, water, and waste management. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who wants to gain hands-on experience and contribute to impactful, multidisciplinary projects.
Location: Full-time presence (100% in-office) in Houston, TX office (with the exception of business travel as required)
Responsibilities:
- Execution of field visits to support field investigations;
- Collection and analysis of environmental records and data;
- Preparation of technical environmental studies related to soil, water, air, noise, or the natural environment;
- Compilation of regulatory permit applications including environmental compliance approvals, tree permits, water taking and discharge permits, etc.
- Supporting the preparation of proposals for various technical studies; and,
- Liaising with various subject matter experts to support ongoing mining, infrastructure and energy projects, where required.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or a similar field.
- An interest in environmental consulting in the mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire environmental teams, collaborate with peers and integrate with engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial with a strong quality focus.
- Effective at managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Clear communication style with the ability to plan, lead, and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables.
- Knowledge of or experience with environmental assessment or permitting, environmental due diligence, and technical modelling an asset.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as work requires.

- Perform calculations and other assignments related to your sector
- Assist in executing conceptual and detailed design phases for projects
- Support preparation of drawings and technical documents from notes and specifications
- Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
- Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
