Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.
We are seeking a skilled Architectural Designer, preferably with experience in the mining and oil and gas sector, to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should be capable of preparing 3D models and 2D drawings using Bentley MicroStation software, with strong proficiency in other similar modeling platforms also welcomed. They will have a solid background in architectural design for industrial and infrastructure projects and possess excellent English communication skills. This role may involve regular travel to project sites to support construction activities and ensure architectural design implementation aligns with project specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare 3D models and 2D architectural design drawings using Bentley MicroStation software, tailored for mining and infrastructure facilities.
- Provide early-phase design visualization support to communicate design intent effectively.
- Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building programs, and other related materials to produce accurate and practical designs.
- Assist in the preparation of 3d models and drawings across various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, sections, and details.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of building codes, energy codes, and requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the coordination of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and associated documentation, including clash detection within the BIM model.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, civil, and mechanical engineers to ensure cohesive and constructible design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute architectural input throughout the project lifecycle.
- If required, conduct site visits to support construction teams, resolve design-related issues, and ensure compliance with architectural intent.
- Contribute to project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or client, vendors, and contractors.
- Ensure all designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client-specific architectural requirements.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control of all architectural design outputs.
- Communicate and work effectively with other members of the production team.
Key Requirements:
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficient in Bentley software, especially MicroStation; strong proficiency in other similar modeling platforms is also welcomed.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in architectural design, preferably within the mining and oil and gas sector.
- Strong understanding of architectural systems and industrial facility layouts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building systems and materials.
- Basic knowledge of accessibility and building codes.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and work in field conditions to support construction activities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large-scale mining and infrastructure projects (surface or underground).
- Familiarity with other CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) is a plus.
- Diploma or degree in Architecture, or a related field.
- Knowledge of architectural standards and practices relevant to industrial and mining environments (e.g., AS, ISO, or client-specific standards).
- Design-focused, team player, flexible, responsible, organized, rigorous thinker, committed to high quality, personable with strong communication skills. Open-minded and curious.
