We are currently recruitng for 2 VQS Inspectors:

  • Structural, Mechanical, Piping & Platework (SMPP)
  • And Electrical and Instrumentation (E,C &I) 

 

Vendor Quality Surveillance (VQS) is a discipline within Procurement that provides competent and qualified personnel complete with systems, processes, tools, and support to perform on behalf of Clients and Projects the monitoring and surveillance on vendors/suppliers implementing their quality management plans.

The QS Inspectors role can commence at start of manufacture and continues at the pre- determined level of surveillance, through to issuance of the last Inspection release Certificate. A QS Inspector shall be both qualified and competent to perform their responsibilities as defined in their engagement assignment. Regardless of the QS Inspector industry sector or discipline they work within it is expected they will have:

  • A demonstrated technical capability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
  • The ability to apply the above interpretation to vendor’s/supplier’s inspection and test plans, processes, and procedures for conformity.
  • Ability to perform monitoring and surveillance on the vendor/supplier implementation of their quality plans and procedures during manufacture.
  • Well-developed planning skills and strong interpersonal skills to ensure appropriate management of vendors/suppliers is done in an efficient and effective collaborative manner.

 

Key Responsibilities

Unless stated otherwise in the Quality Surveillance Assignment Letter (QSAL), the QS Inspector responsibilities will include:

  • Attend VQS assignment activities as defined in the Quality Surveillance Assignment Letter (QSAL).
  • Partake in meetings with QS Coordinator, Package Engineer, Purchasing Agent,
  • vendors/suppliers, and Client representative if needed.

  • Make themselves familiar with the individual inspection and test acceptance criteria
  • through the review of technical specifications, standards, codes and or statutory requirements.

  • A commitment to utilize the Supply Quality Management system and tools.
  • Ensure that the data being reported is aligned with to the specified requirements and is complete and accurate.
  • Participate in the preparation, issuance, management, and closeout of:
    • Minutes of meeting (MOM) and or their actions.
    • Surveillance inspector reports (SIRs)
    • Observations (OBRs)
    • Non-conformance reports (NCRs)
    • Inspection release certificates (IRCs)
    • Data to aid reporting.
  • Respond in a timely manner to vendor/supplier issued notifications to attend scheduled inspections.
  • Support the Engineer and QS Coordinator to resolve technical issues and/or non- conformances
  • Establish and maintain the project quality documents in a detailed, accurate and timely manner i.e.: registers, reports, correspondence, and inspection release certificates

 

​​​​​​​Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • As a minimum, having technical qualifications and demonstrated competency that is suitably aligned with the goods being manufactured and/or the specific inspection and tests being attended
  • Appropriate qualifications and statutory licenses that enable accurate assessment of the inspections and tests being done and the verification of compliance being provided by the vendor/supplier and/or manufacturer
  • High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with:
    • ​​​​​​​Manufacture processes
    • Material types

      w Supply items and components.

  • ​​​​​​​Demonstrated experience with quality control and quality assurance processes.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer and mobile device literate.

 

Preferred

  • Familiar with ISO 9001, six sigma or similar accepted quality management standards.
  • Demonstrated history of dealing directly with vendors/suppliers and clients.
