Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior OCS (Overhead Contact System) Engineer to join our Global Rail Systems team in the Katowice, Poland location.

 

In this role the ideal candidate is a results-driven engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.  Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Design OCS layouts, wire tensions, foundations, poles/columns/structures for light rail, commuter rail and streetcar with pantograph as well as streetcar and electrified buses with trolley poles.
  • Coordinate with other engineers for systems integration and design.
  • Prepare design reports.
  • Develop documents including specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
  • Review project submittals and requests for information from contractors.
  • Provide installation, testing and commissioning support to clients.
  • Management of OCS projects.

 

You bring to the role:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. 
  • Relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for degree requirements.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience with dc OCS systems design, including the design of 600 to 1500 volt dc rail as well as 12 to 25 kilovolt AC transit systems 
  • Thorough understanding of the relevant European railway standards (EN, IEC, UIC and etc.)
  • Professional engineer’s license is an advantage
  • Experience with North American and/or European transit/transportation industries is highly desirable.

 

 

The following skills/experience is a plus:

  • Tension and pole/foundation load calculations
  • CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation) and OCS design software experience with structural engineering analysis software like STAAD and RISA
  • Experience in field testing of OCS systems
  • Knowledge of railway traction power systems
  • Project management experience

 

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

 

This position is based in Poland and will support global signalling projects from our Katowice, Poland office.

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
