Join our Ports & Terminals Group to support planning initiatives for major container terminals, bulk and break-bulk facilities, offshore wind support facilities, cruise terminals, and other port assets.  You will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in developing long-range port master plans, facility plans, terminal expansion/optimization strategies, capacity analyses, and operations plans for port authorities, terminal operators, and stevedores. This role involves close collaboration with transportation planning professionals and participation across multiple project teams.

Responsibilities:

•    Provide executive-level leadership as Engagement Sponsor or Engagement Manager across a portfolio of complex port planning projects, with full accountability for workstreams, deliverables, budgets, client relationships, and issue resolution within Hatch’s project governance framework.  
•    Apply advanced planning methodologies and deep industry experience to develop innovative, efficient, and cost-effective, solutions in highly complex, multidisciplinary, and multivariable environments.
•    Lead and oversee comprehensive road rail, and marine operations planning, ensuring alignment with industry standards, quality objectives, regulatory requirements, and evolving client needs.
•    Direct the collection, analysis, interpretation, and strategic application of operational and planning data to inform project decisions.  
•    Provide executive oversight of the development, review, and quality assurance of reports, technical memoranda, presentations, schedules, maps, models, and other planning deliverables.
•    Lead major proposal efforts, serve as a key contributor on strategic pursuits, and guide the development of proposal interview materials and other business development materials. 
•    Expand and strengthen client relationships, service as a trusted industry advisor, and champion Hatch’s service offerings to drive revenue growth and new market opportunities. 
•    Mentor, develop, and guide multidisciplinary Ports & Terminals staff in Hatch’s Long Beach and Los Angeles offices. Contribute to organizational growth through active involvement in recruitment and talent management.

Qualifications:

•    Masters degree in transportation or transportation planning; urban, regional, or city planning; or civil, marine, or mechanical engineering.
•    15+ years’ of progressive experience in land use or transportation planning in the freight space, including leading long-range master planning projects, planning studies, terminal capacity assessments, debottlenecking, optimization studies, and other complex multi-modal planning initiatives.
•    Demonstrated excellence managing and collaborating across numerous large-scale, concurrent, and multidisciplinary projects with high strategic and operational significance.  
•    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to executive-level stakeholders and diverse audiences.  
•    A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated ability to deliver under real-world constraints while delivering on client project goals and objectives.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint essential) with familiarity in ArcGIS, QGIS, and other analytical or planning software. 

Base Compensation: $202,000 - $225,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
