We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:

 

SENIOR FACILITIES ENGINEER

Office Location: Ambler, PA; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA

Requirements:

 

The ideal candidate is a self-directed engineering professional with a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, a strong understanding of Manufacturing and/or Industrial Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in machinery design.  The position is that of a senior leader within a multi-discipline design team. Preferred Candidates should have experience in the industrial design of factories; large product distribution facilities; or transportation fleet maintenance facilities. Experience in bus and/or passenger train maintenance is a significant advantage. PE registration (or the ability to obtain registration within six months) is highly desirable, but not required.

 

Candidates must have experience in developing plans, specifications, calculations, technical reports and memorandums, and cost estimates for projects. Job duties will include:

 

  • Developing industrial layout/design of the facility and process machinery for best facility logistics and material flow.
  • Writing specifications for machinery procurement from proprietary design machinery builders.
  • Preparing Design and Specifications for custom built machinery, tooling and fixtures.
  • Preparing facility construction cost estimates using industry data sources such as R.S. Means.
  • Visiting project sites and customer facilities for meetings, data collection and planning.
  • Coordinating with engineers from other disciplines and architects.
  • Witnessing in-factory machinery inspection and testing to assure conformance to specification.
  • Performing final machinery installation inspection, commissioning and start-up.  

 

All candidates must have knowledge in overhead cranes, grade mounted material handling equipment, welding / fabrication and machine shop equipment and practices; and thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and ANSI / ASME standards. Experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting programs is a plus.

 

To function well as a design team member, all candidates should have a broad understanding of the basic principles of electrical controls and interlocking; electric charging, industrial ventilation; metallurgy, corrosion and materials selection; and architectural design.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships are critically important for success in this role.  Candidates must also be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality.

 

Candidate shall have or obtain a U.S. passport. Travel within North America may range from 10% to 25% of time in any given year. Occasional travel outside North America may be required.

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
