Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Network Design Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group. Alternate locations such as Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane will be considered. We manage our clients’ entire project lifecycle from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies. As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Be involved in preparing design, studies, calculations and documentation to support concept studies, feasibility studies and detail design.
  • Develop communications network designs, from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Produce ICT architectures, network topologies, configuration specifications, IP address plans, drawings and design reports.
  • Design and specify structured cabling, enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN and SD-WAN networks, and fibre optic and wireless communications, ensuring the network integrates CCTV and video management, access control and security systems, and public address, emergency communication and intercom systems.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, bills of material, patching schedules, cabinet layouts, technical specifications and scopes of work.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes and client requirements.
  • Develop network architecture diagrams, equipment schedules and system documentation.
  • Support design verification, factory and site testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Review vendor submissions, technical proposals and equipment datasheets.

 

You bring to the role:

  • Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with the safety requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients on a technical and interpersonal level
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years' experience in ICT engineering or ICT systems design.
  • Proven experience designing enterprise and infrastructure ICT systems.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, Ethernet and fibre optic systems, routing and switching, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience producing engineering documentation and design deliverables.
  • Experience in the design, specification, configuration, installation, expansion and optimisation of communication systems and associated infrastructure, such as wireless, fibre optic, CCTV, security and access control, IT networks and server rooms.
  • Demonstrated design and engineering experience in heavy industries such as energy,  infrastructure or mining and metals.
