Rail Systems BIM/CAD Designers

 

Locations: Ambler, PA; Seattle, WA; and Minneapolis, MN

 

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Rail Systems CAD Designer to join our growing Rail and Transit teams. We are looking for a results-driven engineering professional with experience in engineering software programs Autodesk and Bentley (Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit), excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.  Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

In this role, the successful candidate will be working with an elite group of design professionals focusing on North American transit and rail projects. Candidates will work within CAD programs to develop rail systems drawings, earthwork surfaces, alignments and profiles, sections, and other related models, as well as creating the sheets for the construction documents.

 

The ideal candidate will be motivated, qualified, with proven experience delivering design and construction projects in the transportation industry. While CAD design expertise is essential, it will be equally important to have superior interpersonal skills, as teamwork and client interaction will be required. Finally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity and commitment, trust, and the ability to follow through - areas critically important to the Hatch culture.

 

As a successful candidate, you will:

 

  • Provide CADD support on design and deliverables including horizontal and vertical alignments, surfaces, cross sections, systems design, quantity take-offs, and construction documents,
  • Follow CADD standards to generate models and plan sheets with minimal supervision
  • Efficiently work to meet project deadlines and deliverables
  • Work with the design of complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to close-out
  • Collaborate with design team members locally and remotely to accomplish design objectives
  • Provide support to other Hatch offices and regions in the development and delivery of work
  • Develop and maintain professional team and client relationships through successful project performance and participation in industry activities.
  • Assist with other tasks as necessary

 

What you bring to the role:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in the transportation industry
  • Expertise with specialized engineering software design tools (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inroads, and in particular, Revit and Civil 3D).
  • Experience in a variety of specialized systems design subjects (e.g., track geometry, communications, traction power interface, signal system interfaces)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients (both written and orally)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Time management skills and the ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; and
  • A history of delivering projects on time and on budget.
